What are the Upper Room Gatherings?
Upper Room Gatherings bring youth and young adult ministry leaders from across the diocese together for prayer, community, and formation. Like the disciples in the Upper Room, we gather to encounter Christ, share wisdom, and grow in our call. Each gathering blends fellowship, collaboration, and practical tools with spiritual encouragement, so leaders are renewed and sent forth with fresh energy for mission.
Who should attend?
Anyone who walks with young people!
We will alternate focus each month:
One month will be for those who minister with youth (middle school and high school age). The next will be for those who minister with young adults (ages 18–39).
These gatherings are especially designed for:
- Youth ministers and their volunteers
- Young adult ministry leaders
- Ministry teams
- Campus ministers
- Clergy, seminarians, and religious sisters and brothers
- Hospitality ministers
- Music ministers and liturgical leaders
- Religious education and formation leaders
- Marriage and family life ministers
- Ushers and volunteers who encounter young people in parish life
- Anyone who desires to accompany the young Church
What happens at a Gathering?
Each Upper Room Gathering is a time to be fed spiritually and supported practically. Together, we will:
- Pray as a community and reflect on how God is moving in our lives and ministries.
- Share stories, challenges, and encouragement with one another.
- Learn through short, practical formation sessions to grow as ministry leaders.
- Discover ideas and resources to bring back to our parishes, campuses, and communities.

All meetings take place from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at the Diocese of Gary Pastoral Center, 9292 Broadway, Merrillville.
